Pitt’s Cathedral of Learning

In his book Pittsburgh: A New Portrait, Pittsburgh architectural historian Franklin Toker explains that every neighborhood has a centerpiece, a communal focal point or visual conceit. This entry is a photo gallery of my shots of Oakland’s most prominent feature, The University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning. This Gothic revival skyscraper is more than a place to study, it’s a compass. The Cathedral is visible from many different vantage points and leads the errant traveler back to the center of  campus.
